Your fertility journey belongs to you

Buddy is built around privacy. We do not sell your reproductive health information. We collect only the information needed to help you find compatible peer-support connections, and you decide what you share and how it's used.

The short version

You choose what to share. We collect only what's needed to make matching work, we never sell your information, and you can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time.

What we collect and why

• Email address — Used to create and secure your account. Never shown to other Buddies.
• Nickname — Helps other Buddies identify you. It does not have to be your real name.
• Journey stage (required) — Used to connect people at a similar point in their fertility journey.
• Age, photo or symbol, diagnosis, family-building path, fertility clinic, location, languages, Buddy preferences, and bio — Optional. For many of these, you can choose whether they are visible to other Buddies or used only for matching.
• Pregnancy and parenting comfort preferences — Used only to honor your matching preferences. Never shown to other Buddies.
• Chat messages — Visible only to you and the Buddies you choose to chat with. Buddy does not routinely read private messages. In limited circumstances, authorized administrators may review reported messages or relevant portions of a conversation to investigate potential violations of our Community Guidelines, address safety concerns, resolve support requests, or comply with legal obligations.

Sharing Your Information

The information you add to your profile and share in chats may include sensitive reproductive or health information. Sharing any of it is optional — please share only what you are comfortable disclosing.

Once you voluntarily share information with another user, Buddy cannot control or prevent that person from remembering, copying, saving, screenshotting, or sharing it outside the platform. Buddy protects the information stored and processed by the platform; you decide what you voluntarily disclose to other users.

Reproductive Health Information

Fertility-related information (such as diagnosis, journey stage, family-building path, and pregnancy or parenting preferences) is used to help create meaningful matches. It is optional, and you can edit, hide, or remove it at any time through your privacy controls.

Your Responsibility

You are responsible for the information you choose to include in your profile and messages. Please use good judgment and avoid sharing details you wouldn't want another user to keep or repeat.

What we don't do

We do not:

• Sell or rent your personal information.
• Sell, rent, or share your reproductive health information with advertisers or data brokers.
• Share your email address with other Buddies.
• Display your exact location (only the general location you choose to share).
• Use your reproductive health information for advertising.

Your controls

You can:

• Edit your profile at any time.
• Choose which profile information is visible to other Buddies.
• Block another Buddy.
• Permanently delete your account, including your profile, matches, and chat history.

Please note that account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Administrative access

Access to personal information is restricted to authorized administrators and is provided only when reasonably necessary to operate the service, resolve a support request, investigate a report or safety concern, enforce our policies, comply with legal obligations, or complete an account-related request. Buddy administrators do not routinely browse private profiles or conversations. Where feasible, access to sensitive information is limited and logged.

Security

Your full profile is only visible to you and, for the information you choose to share, Buddies you've mutually connected with.

We take industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including restricted administrative access. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sharing sensitive personal information that could identify you or that you would be uncomfortable becoming public.
